Meliá Hotels International makes strategic debut in Tunisia with 3,000-room development plan

Meliá Hotels International, Spain’s leading hotel company with 70 years of experience in the leisure segment, strengthens its position in the Mediterranean with the announcement of its official entry into Tunisia. Through a strategic alliance with Management Hospitality Group (MHG), the company will operate five new properties that will gradually join its portfolio, with the ambitious goal of reaching 3,000 rooms in the destination by 2030.This expansion begins this year with the opening of a resort operating under the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand in Mahdia. The property will offer 307 rooms and is located in one of the country’s most exclusive coastal areas.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that World of Hyatt members can now earn and redeem World of Hyatt loyalty points at participating Bahia Principe properties. The collection joining the program totals approximately 12,000 rooms across more than 20 Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts-branded hotels in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Spain.

This milestone marks a step forward in the strategic joint venture between Hyatt and Piñero that manages Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts-branded properties and owns the Bahia Principe brand. IHG accelerates European growth expanding its portfolio by over a quarter in three years

A supportive macro backdrop continues to fuel IHG’s growth as it expands its scale and presence in Europe’s key destinations. In 2025, European hotel investment reached €27 billion across more than 1,050 hotels – the strongest year since 2019 (Cushman & Wakefield). IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, continues to strengthen its position in Mexico, a key growth market for its Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, Essentials and Suites brands. Mexico represents IHG’s 5th largest market globally for open hotels and rooms, and the company has an ambition to nearly double its growth pace over the next few years.
